THE SOCIETY PHANTOM – RICHARD WILLETT

Taking personal responsibility for our own actions and the outcome of those choices, must surely be the first step to freedom of our singular being. I often here this weird thing being said to justify all sorts of strange behaviour, even the odd (they are all odd) serial killer uses this phantom to take responsibility for their gruesome actions.

This phantom being that holds no solidity but is made up of everyone else, and not ourselves, will be there to take the blame for all manner of backwards behaviour. It is the adult way of a child saying “But they made me do it, Jenny made me poop in the sand pit, I was just an innocent poop stander”!

If I sat you down right now, in a big comfy leather chair on of those nice lazy boy chairs with the flippy feet that pop out, and the head rest that shoots back so you slip out of the top and under the coffee table. That’s right take your seat as I need to ask you a very important question and I need a solid answer, I actually need you to point out where this phantom is in the room, that seems to appear all around us.

Are you ready?!

“Can you show me Society”?

Where is it and what does it consist of? who is involved and how do these people function? and more importantly how is it something other than you?

This society phantom is the equivalent of complaining about the individuals in the traffic jam that you are in fact part of. It like shouting at the driver stuck behind you “Oh move out the way mate, Im trying not to be stuck in traffic”! It makes no sense. You and I ARE society, we are the phantom that gets the blame when things go to shit. There is no society other than a collection of individuals are completely responsible for their individual actions. Now I am not saying you are totally responsible for your feelings, but every single one of us have to admit that we are responsible for our actions based on our feelings, which are based on our perception of what is going on around us.

See how I just wrote “HAVE TO” actually you don’t HAVE TO do anything really, you just have to make a choice to do something. There is NO society or phantom traffic jam, YOU and I are society and we are in the traffic jam as part of the traffic jam. Now we may not be responsible for the accident that caused the traffic jam, but we are responsible for driving our car down that road that day to be part of the traffic jam.

This is not a BLAME GAME, you are not to blame for the traffic jam, unless of course you are, but you are responsible for your spot in it. So when you hear someone saying “Oh its societies fault” have a good look at them and ask “Are you separate from society” ? like some sort of cyborg that was built by Bill Gates in his Dungeon at Microsoft. Actually that might be a bit true, and If I have accidentally stumbled on something there, I only have my self to hold accountable, what the CIA do with my new found ‘Knowing’ is their responsibility and in turn it will be my responsibility to look at the situation and act accordingly to what outcome I want.

So

There is no phantom society to take the blame for you. No one made you do it, those are your arms and your eye, your legs and your actions. In the words of Michael Jackson (although he didn’t actually write the song) If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make that change…..And stop blaming the Society phantom (That’s not in the song, I added that bit)
